About the job
Curro Serengeti is looking for a Life Sciences Teacher (FET Phase) to join the team from January 2027. The role is based at Curro Serengeti, which includes a primary and a high school in Kempton Park.
Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver lessons using modern teaching tools and processes.
• Prepare workbooks and monitor academic improvement and achievement.
• Develop, implement, monitor and adjust term plans.
• Consider exams, assessments and school activities.
• Prepare differentiated learning materials where required.
• Create baseline assessments.
• Use assessment outcomes to guide subject choices, teaching methods, remedial work and catch-up programmes.
• Manage the classroom and assessment roster.
• Manage classroom setup and discipline.
• Communicate with learners and parents.
• Manage formal and continuous assessments.
• Manage homework, moderation, revision and supervision.
• Plan and manage extracurricular activities and outings.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and extra lessons.
Requirements
• BEd and/or PGCE in FET Phase education.
• Honours degree in education in relevant subject(s) is advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years' FET teaching experience.
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum.
• Facilitation, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills.
• Willingness and ability to work extended hours and weekends.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• SACE registered.
• Clear criminal record.
